Lack of updates brings some more updates

Please forgive the lack of updates/postings. It’s been a really busy couple of days. Mostly jumping from one studio to another and essentially keeping Pro Tools open on any screen possible and just diving right into the tunes.

Been pretty busy putting together some new material for Bullet of Reason. I really hope this new stuff rocks your world just as hard as it’s rocking mine. I really can’t wait to show this stuff to you………… wait a second, I already did a little bit on my Ustream account which can be found by clicking this link. I plan on turning on the camera at random times just to see who’s interested in watching me work on some stuff (which I will warn you now is EXTREMELY boring and probably best that you don’t actually watch it). I’ll most likely be posting the next time I plan on doing a Ustream so that you can follow along and watch and even ask questions. Follow my Twitter and Facebook Page for updates on when I’ll be doing a live show. Since I may even be putting the stream up at random, be sure to check back on my pages often. If you haven’t already picked up the Breathing the Machine EP or you have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, I strong suggest that you go pick it up in the FiXT Store and let the machine consume your soul!

I’ve also been pretty busy working on new ethereal|Lust material and I can say that we’re both really proud of where this project is going. We really can’t wait to get this full album out to you. EP, ethereal|Lust, PD17 and Step Zer0!

Alright boys and girls here goes…

While the Breathing the Machine – EP is not yet ready for your downloading pleasure I can say that it’s in the final step and will be sent off to FiXT Store over the next few days for them to process and get it up and running in the store.

So why the hell have I been delaying this release? Well, remember how I promised a remix of Chaotika by Martin Harp? Martin ran into a couple studio problems and then moving and then lack of internet. This entire phase made it quite difficult for him to work on and send me the remix. No fault on him (still love you Martin!). I’ve spoke with him and the good people over at FiXT and we’ve come up with a solution…

I don’t want to delay the EP anymore, so I’ll be sending them the EP with 5 tracks (4 originals and 1 remix by Clarck Cunt). Then, when you purchase the EP from FiXT you will be able to re-download the EP once Martin’s remix is complete, free of charge. I will of course notify you of the updated download file so you can go back to the FiXT Store and re-download it. Send me an email with your proof of purchase and I’ll will save it so that when the remix and updated EP becomes available I will personally send you an email telling you to go and re-download the EP from your downloads. If you run into any issues, please let me know and I’ll be sure to sort it out.

With that being said, when can you get the EP? Hopefully in the next week or so! I’ll be sure to let you know as soon as it’s up and running (so stay tuned).

*phew* okay, so part one is done…

As you probably already have heard, I’m also working in my band with the lovely Roxanne in ethereal|Lust. So far, the response has been full of kick ass and positive vibes. We’re both extremely happy that you’ve been enjoying what you’ve been hearing and we promise more to come soon. We’re working on putting together a small little EP over the next few weeks so that you have something else to listen to that isn’t Bullet of Reason.

I’m going to keep this post short and sweet…

I’ve finally released a full on track under my old alias of Platinum Dragon17. I gave you a teaser and a full on listen and download on the beta track, but for those of you who are followers of Platinum Dragon17 or you’re just interested in hearing something that isn’t Bullet of Reason, then allow me to introduce my comeback for PD17.

Breathing the Machine – EP Album Art

This has been a long time coming… sadly, it’s not the actual EP for you ears (yet!).

So since I don’t have the full EP ready to go, I figured I’d at least show you the album artwork. The artwork was done by Ewart K Cameron (who also plays the bassline on Mechanical Holocaust). There was no photo manipulation done here. This was all hand-drawn by him, shaded by him, textured by him….. all done by him! He will also be doing the rest of the album art for the final full length release. There are plenty of ideas that we need to flesh out, but I’m sure it’s going to be a whole whack load of stupid fun!

Here it is! Hopefully the next big update that I have for you is actually the release 🙂

Platinum Dragon17 is Back?!

Yes, it’s true. I’ve been thinking long and hard about how I wanted to bring Platinum Dragon17 back to the world. If you know me well enough, you’ll know that I retired the alias until I was sure of what I wanted PD17 to become.

So here’s something I started messing around with tonight. I’ve had the idea of ReConstruct in my head, which seems obvious considering that’s exactly what I wanted to do to Platinum Dragon17.

This is pretty repetitive, so keep in mind that this is no where close to completion… just fleshing out ideas.

PLEASE let me know what you think. The more ideas I’ve got about how to bring this alias back to life, the better!

Platinum Dragon17 – ReConstruct (DRAFT) by Bullet of Reason

For the past few weeks I’ve been keeping crazy busy with stuff (and for once it’s actually music related). I’ve been working with the guy who’s been putting together my cover art and I’m so freaking excited to show it to you……. but you’ll have to wait until the EP is released.

Speaking of EP, I’m still in the works of gathering everything together for the Breathing the Machine – EP and making sure it’s good to go for your ears. I’ve been a little delayed as I’ve also started to work on a new side project, ethereal|Lust. It’s with Roxanne who is also known as the Chicken Girl over on Blue Stahli’s blog. This will be fronted by her melodic vocals with yours truly backing up the creepy and screamy factor. In fact, we’ve actually got a song ready for your ears if you’d like to hear it (see below for our SoundCloud)! While you’re at it, why don’t you head over to our Facebook Page and then Like us and be our bestest buddies in the whole wide world, and then check out the Bullet of Reason Facebook Page!

I’m going to keep this short and right to the point…

Bullet of Reason is now available for purchase in the FiXT Store
Yes, I’m pretty damn excited about this! So what else do I have in store to share? Well, the Breathing the Machine – EP is almost done and I’m looking to have it released to your eardrums within the first week or so of December (which is only a couple weeks away!!). And yes, it will also be sold in the FiXT Store.

It will feature “Chaotika”, “Mechanical Holocaust”, and “(Sanity) Through the Eyes of the Insane”… and that’s not all! It will also feature two remixes of Chaotika done by fellow FiXT Remixers, Clarck Cunt and Martin Harp!

Progress and Remix

I’m sorry for the lack of updates recently. I’ve been busy getting a lot of stuff done. I feel like I keep saying that but seriously, it’s true. I’m hoping to get some more material ready for your ear drums within the next week or two. I’ve essentially thought out a pretty sweet skeleton of what (Sanity) Through the Eyes of the Insane will sound like. I haven’t done any vocal work yet but lyrics are done… well, kinda. I have to jam on them first for a little bit. I’m sure there will be some tweaks that will be needed. This track is hopefully going to be punchy and catchy.

I’ve also been busy working on my Blue Stahli “Corner” remix. It’s pretty different than what I’m used to doing so it’s taking me some time to get adjusted to the sound of the mix. I’ll be sure to supply you with a link once I’m happy with it and it becomes a final mix instead of draft upon draft upon draft.

Mechanical Holocaust – Preview and Troubles

Will this song ever be completed?! AHH it’s driving me nuts!

I listened to it a couple of times today and made mental notes of what needed to be changed and tweaked and fixed. I get home from work and start organizing my thoughts and going to work on what I can remember needs to be done. All my plug-ins are dialed in and ready to go. The song arrangement is good and I approve… preview the track and decide if this will be a draft or the final version. Select the entire track in Pro Tools and get ready to bounce and BAM! a CPU error pops up telling me that the CPU is being used to the max and I may need to remove some plug-ins. This has happened before, so I figured I’d try again…

… after about 20 tries, I decided that it would be best to walk away before I go ape-shit on my computer and throw my guitar into my screen (as you can see, the guitar would probably do some massive damage). Also doing so could also cause massive damage to my heart and I would probably cry for months.

The initial process of mixing the song down started around……… hell, I don’t even remember. But it do know it was awhile ago since I wanted to take it out into the car and unleash it on the streets of Cornwall, Ontario. It’s now 11:15pm and I am in my PJs listening to it in my headphones and will listen to it again tomorrow as I drive to work.

Now since you’ve gone through my rant or just skipped to the preview (no worries, I don’t blame you), I will say that you MAY be hearing a clip from the final mix. I will let you know tomorrow if what I was FINALLY able to mix down tonight is in fact the final mix that I can then leave alone and never touch it again until I start putting the new album together. Oh god, how great that would be!
