It took a lot of courage to go in and cover this tune, but I finally did it… and I’m happy to say that I’m proud of it! It’s a FREE download so why don’t you go and grab yourself a copy of it and jam it right into your ear holes?!
And here’s some album news……..
Ready?
It’s done… ‘Breathing the Machine’ is finished… ready to be put to CDs and start delivering it to YOU! I will be revealing the album artwork sometime this week on my Facebook Page as well as the full tracklist, and then updating it here later.
I’m just a little excited…… and relieved (but mostly excited)!
If you’ve been following me on Facebook and Twitter you would have seen that I was looking at YOU to be a part of “Slay to Survive”…. AND NOW YOU CAN! All the instructions are included in this Zip file (see below) on how you can be a part of the upcoming album “Breathing the Machine”.
Get your lungs ready and start chanting!!!!
SEND ONLY THE VOX TRACK WITHOUT THE BACKGROUND MUSIC!
THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT YOUR VOX TRACK IS JULY 26, 2013
TODAY “Slay to Survive” will be built from scratch and brought back to life with the help from a few of my old bandmates of DoublEdged. I hope to get a camera up and running so you can get a glimpse of what we’re working on and the shenanigans that would most definitely take place today.
If all goes as planned, I’ll start a broadcast around 1pm (EST) and have it go for as long as I see fit.
Are you ready? Cause I am!
P.S. Since Facebook has gone in and made it even more difficult for musicians to interact with their fans, here’s how you can get all the Bullet of Reason news!
It’s coming together very nicely and it’s almost done. Those are words I didn’t think I’d be saying anytime soon…. but it’s true. “Perfect Poison” has been cut from the album, but will not be forgotten. This will give the album a few extra minutes to play around with. “Stand Together” just needs some verse vocals set in place and then I can call it “pretty-much-complete”. Which leads me to some big news about “Slay to Survive”. I’m in the process of rebuilding this track from the ground up, starting it from scratch. But this time with a little bit of help…
As some of you may already know, “Slay to Survive” was originally a track from my old band DoublEdged. It was a huge tune (at least to us) and was possibly our favourite track. So my plan is to gather a few of my old band-mates together to bring this track back to life and essentially build a full length song full of pure rock and metal madness with the essential Bullet of Reason style electronics…
… But that’s not all that’ll be done with this track. I’ll also be looking at YOU for some help.
Now I know I said I probably won’t post another preview until the full album is ready to go…… but I thought I’d be kind and give you a little taste of what’s happening!
I’m feeling a little generous and want to give you a quick preview of what my track “Mechanical Holocaust” will sound like for the album. If you picked up the Breathing the Machine EP you would have heard a demo version of this track, and I’ve since gone in and completely re-worked it from the ground up. I think the only things that I kept were the machine sfx and my friend Ewart’s bassline (he is also the man responsible for the Breathing the Machine EP cover artwork as well as the artwork for the full album…. and I gotta tell you it looks kick ass!)
So here’s a sample of things to come. What do you think?
Controlling your mind / Mental genocide /You can’t escape the truth / This is your mechanical holocaust
Controlling your mind Synthetic thoughts forming the perfect formula for mental genocide Don’t try to hide You can’t escape the truth You’ve already lost This is your mechanical holocaust
Fueled by power Fueled be greed I am all that you need Your utopia, the source (The omega) When in reality I’m the perfect enemy
If you’ve been following me on Facebook, you would know that I’ve been working on reconstructing the single “Unfair” off my first album to give it a little more punch and to make it as aggressive as I originally intended it to be. It will actually be featured on the upcoming album “Breathing the Machine”.
I did, however, say that I might actually have this track done by the end of this year. Conveniently I finished the mastering process last night and had a listen to it on the big boy speakers and was finally happy with it.
So before I get to it (unless you’ve already scrolled down and downloaded it as you’re reading this), I just wanted to thank you all for being with me this year. It’s been an incredible year full of knowledge and making new friends and catching up with all the old ones and doing my absolute best to keep track of everything that’s been going on in my life. You are all the reason why I continue to strive to make Bullet of Reason better and better (at least, I think it’s getting better… for all I know you could be thinking it’s a piece of crap), and I plan on involving each and every one of you on the upcoming album somehow to try and show my thanks. 2012 was a big year, but the plans I have for 2013 are even bigger….. maybe even hopefully getting a chance to see you in the crowd somewhere and get in front of a camera to start making some videos………. I digress.
Happy New Year to all you kick ass peeps out there and here’s to 2013!
Right click to download “Unfair” or you can just stream it here:
I’ve decided that the mix I’m working on for “Unfair” is good enough to show you a real quick preview of one of the choruses. When compared to the original track I did a few years back, you can see how much of a difference there actually is……. and I like it! At this rate, the track will be done sometime this year!!!!! YAY!
It’s been awhile in the making…. there’s been a few bumps on the way. Session changing completely, lyrics being re-written. But I can finally say that my newest track “Judas” is ready to take over your ears and scream at you. Chalk another track up for “Breathing the Machine”. Maybe I’ll have the full album ready sometime in the next few years!
Time to go back to the roots that Bullet of Reason came from. It’s funny, this is one of the quickest tracks I put together for the new album and I love the way it turned out.
Enough chit-chat… here’s my new track “Digital Embrace”
