Platinum Dragon17 – Meaning Of The Dreams

So I released this awhile ago as a free album. Why? Well to be honest I wasn’t completley happy with it and I didn’t feel like you should pay for it. So I considered this album to be more of “demo” style material.

This is NOT Bullet of Reason stuff. This is under my first alias, Platinum Dragon17; which has 3 other albums avaliable for purchase before this one.

You’re probably wondering why I want to go back to something I’m not really happy about and let your ears listen to it… and I’ll reply with “You know, that’s a good question!”. I sorta just felt like it.

I will be bringing Platinum Dragon17 back eventually since I retired the name over a year ago to focus on Bullet of Reason. I’m still fleshing out the details on what kind of approach I want to take with PD17, so I’ll release more details about that when the time is right.

Okay, you’ve read enough of my rambling. Let’s get on with the free downloading, shall we?

Here you go… Platinum Dragon17 – Meaning Of The Dreams is ready for your downloading and iPod/mp3 listening pleasure.

BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD, READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS:

As WordPress does not allow me to upload a .zip file for you to download, it makes it a little tricky to make sure you get the file. Here’s what to do…

  • Right-click (or if on a Mac then CMD + Click) the Meaning Of The Dreams picture and then click “Save Link As”
  • Save the file to wherever you want to save it to. You will notice that the file extension is .jpg. Do not worry! This is so that I can actually upload a recognizable file format to WordPress.
  • When the file is done saving to your system, change the file extension to .zip
  • Now you should be able to unzip the file and a folder will magically appear containing the songs and CD art. Lyrics are embedded into the mp3 so if you’re using iTunes you can view them by right clicking the song (after it’s been imported to iTunes, of course) and selecting Lyrics.

Did someone order updates?

So there’s been a lot going on, which is the reason why I haven’t updated in awhile. I’m sure you’ve been patiently waiting for me to bring some news and probably thinking that I actually am dead and that I was lying to you in a previous post… but truth be told, I’m still alive. For those of you wishing I actually was dead – sorry, I guess.

I completed my remix of Clarck C‘s The Great Hunger, and I’m pleased to say that I’m happy with how it turned out. I’m even more pleased to say that he’s happy with the way that it’s turned out, so I guess it’s a pretty damn good win-win situation for the both of us. It will be a part of his next chapter release and will be avaliable on FiXT for download. I will provide a link to the download once it’s been uploaded.

When Clarck told me that I was going to be featured on FiXT, I felt  like I was about to crap bricks. “You mean, my name is going to be somewhere on FiXT?! Available for download with your chapter, through FiXT? HOLY (explicit words)!!” Needless to say, I’m pretty stupid excited for this. Want to hear a quick listen before it’s released (don’t worry, I have Clarck’s permission to share)? OF COURSE YOU DO!

What’s also cool is that Clarck has finished his remix of Chaotika and it will be featured on my upcoming album. It freaking rocks and I’m sure you’ll dig it!

Speaking of Chaotika, another one of my music idols has taken on the task of remixing it. Martin Harp approached me and wanted to remix it. How in the hell could I say no?! I’ve been listening to his remixes on FiXT Remix and was extremely happy that he came to me to remix it. More updates about that in the near future.

So what about me? What about the new material I keep telling you about? Well, I’ve decided to take on a project that has been burning at me for quite awhile. When I was in my buddy’s band called DoublEdged, we came up with a track called (Sanity) Through the Eyes of the Insane. We never really fine tuned it to the point where we all enjoyed it. Ever since the band dismembered, they’ve given me permission to use the lyrics and come up with my own tracks for Bullet of Reason (Chaotika was also a song we came up with as a band). The work we did will now be done through me and luckily they’re really damn cool about me doing that. I always wanted to get out what we couldn’t through any means, and I’m happy to say that I’ll be doing just that. So, I’ve been sitting and trying to figure out how I wanted to get Sanity of the ground and out using the Bullet of Reason style. After a couple nights of looking at a blank screen and then re-working the lyrics, I’m happy to say that I’ve got something! YAY! Here’s a quick preview of what I’m working on. It’s a quick instrumental, but hell, it’s better than nothing!

And that’s about it so far. There will be more updates to come, so stay tuned!!!

Happenings and Stuff

So it’s been interesting over the past few days. I had my eye procedure which put me out of commision for a week and a bit, making it extremely difficult to really work on anything musically. I had an acoustic guitar, but nothing to really record anything… also didn’t really come up with anything worth recording in the first place.

Last time, I gave a quick update on Mechanical Holocaust and how I need to record new guitars. So what am I doing? Redoing the drums.

I know, makes total sense.

But that’s okay, it’s making it easier to track guitars as I feel there’s a bit more presence in the mix which helps progress the song along. I’m listening to it right now and it sound much more mechanical and the way I had originally intended. I’ve been listening to it without guitars in the mix, but I’ve been playing along with what I’ve got to see if it sounds too busy. The only real way I’ll find out is to actually record and mix and then do some more tweaking to get the right sound out of it.

There’s also a couple of other things in the works right now that I can’t really talk to much about, but once I can I’ll let you know. I’m excited for what’s coming and I hope the wait is worth it. On a side note, I was featured on my friends podcast talking about games and stuff because I was in Toronto at the time and it just seemed like a cool idea. Go and take a listen to us ramble and swear at each other at http://mashinstudios.com/?p=1999

I was also thinking of creating a little video of me working on the guitars and mixing M.H., but I’ll figure out how I’ll do that in time. Would anyone really be interested? It’s nothing really special to be honest…

And with that, I’m going to go back and work on playing some guitar with the current state of the song to see where I can get from there.

Until next update…
